About the “Culture Cup” chorus contest

Last Saturday was the “Culture Cup” chorus contest in NCCU, it was a traditional contest which has been hold for 46 years in NCCU. Every department did their best to prepare for it! My department was no exception. It was my first time to experience chorus, everything was new to me, and I made up my mind to sing it well!
a film which records how my department practiced chorus

Every department had to sing two songs, and one of them should be our school song. What my department sang for the second song was “Adiemus”. It is a special song, which its language does not belong to any kinds of languages. (People call it as “World Language”)

We all did our best to prepare for the contest. Lots of our seniors also came to help us deal with our practice, costume and make-up for that day. Although we did not get any pride for the contest, everybody had a good time when we were standing on the stage. We were so nervous but still smiled beautifully when singing. It was an amazing experience. I had never thought about experiencing what chorus is! Thanks to my department to give me such a special chance. I love my Slavic Department

  1. In the beginning, I thought that the culture cup is as boring and unnecessary as the choir contest in the senior high school. However, after practicing with classmates, I realize why the senior are willing to teach us choir.
Over the past three months, we kept practicing and trying to feel the song. The memories are so special and fabulous. Not only it strengthens our relationship but also makes us love our department more than before. Most important of all, we ended up finishing a great performance!
Anyway, I hope that the freshmen next year can accept my feelings, too.

  2. I really like your department's performance! I remembered we were the next team before your department. Guess what! I heard that song before, but in different version. combining the song with drum was so creative! Which made this song full of energy! Besides, your costume was so beautiful! And, according to my memory, I remembered you didn't wear shoes on the stage! That must such a novel experience to you :)

  3. Culture cup was really a necessary activity to NCCU and as a member of radio and television department, I thought it's of importance. However, I dropped out of it and I didn't regret to choose this decision. I thought people who sticked to the end are all pretty firm but the reason why I quitted it was not because I was not strong enough. In fact, I only loved to sing to myself not to everyone and everyone had the right to opt things which they were really keen on. Therefore, I quitted it just one month before it was held.

  4. Hey, lovely girl! I am so lucky to be a part of this event. All of our classmate are awesome. I love the last sound of second song. We sang louder and louder and it’s sounded stronger and stronger. Then we finished at the loudest sound. I will never forget that sound! I think the sound is the symbol of our pation. I can’t wait for the coming event! Let’s do our best again on stage next Thursday!
